A couple years ago, I did Hudson’s sister’s newborn pictures. I was so excited to hear that they were adding a new baby to the family, and he is just as beautiful as his big sister! A newborn session with toddler siblings is always a wild card. You never know what you’re going to get! Some siblings are struggling with the transition, some aren’t. Some are doing just fine at home, but throw them into a new situation, with a new person (me!) and they suddenly are totally uninterested in cooperating. I hope all my clients know that I don’t expect a new sibling to sit and smile on command. I expect that they’re going to have a difficult time! I promise, your child isn’t frustrating me and I understand that all of this is a lot to ask of a little one! Harper didn’t want to do the posing I usually plan for toddlers and newborns, but that was ok. We ended up with several adorable sibling shots, and a bunch of family pictures that I absolutely LOVE!
I always go with the flow and follow the baby’s lead for newborn sessions. I have a workflow I like to follow, but it doesn’t always work for every baby. Hudson definitely liked to be wrapped up, and didn’t want to sleep for me, but I love how his session turned out!
